Fuji X100 Goes To Church

Keven, I'd be very interested to know where this church is, as well as its historical and personal significance. These are very interesting and I particularly like your third and fourth interiors very much.

The church is called Hallgrímskirkja (Hallgrim's Church in english). It is Iceland's tallest building at 244' and sits atop a hill in Reykjavik. You can visit the top of the tower for a small fee and the views are spectacular! It is made of concrete and is considered by some to be the ugliest building in Iceland lol. I think it is magnificent. You cannot visit this and not feel compelled to photograph it.

Keven, much appreciated! I wondered if it might have been made of concrete. The next time you're there, or if you have any other photographs you'd care to share, it would be rather cool to see the church in more of its setting...to get a feeling for the land and perhaps the sea? How about a view from the top?;)

The church sits atop a big hill in Reykjavik. No matter how you approach it, you are shooting uphill and I couldn't find a way to get it in with it's surroundings. The first pic is from about 100m and as you can see, has quite an uphill tendency. The second is taken from halfway down the hill looking up a street. I think the only way would be to take pics of it from an aircraft. The rest are from the top. Spectacular views. Too bad it wasn't sunny!

They are spectacular views! Thank goodness you were looking through a window and not standing on the edge with only a railing or something! I love the colorful roofs and the fall colors...and that green (an airport?) sweeping out to the sea. The view of Hallgrímskirkja from the bottom of one of the streets is very cool...that is quite a presence. I can't help but think of the old days when cathedrals loomed so large in city and village life - physically speaking.

Thank you so much for all of these Keven. I love to see and learn about all of the parts of the world that I've never been to.:flowers_2:
