Bought a genuine Pentax M42 to K Mount adapter. I have a 50mm f/1.8 Pentaflex that I use as a portrait lens for my GM5 and I want to use it on the K200D, as well.

The K Mount goes into another mount, as well, but I don't know which one it is. I will check some other time.

I also did the permanent M42 aperture pin fix.

I cleaned the lens thoroughly, as well, because, why not?

Now, I am looking for a 28mm or a 35mm prime in either the M42 or the K-mount.

Ordered the 70-300. Hopefully it will work well enough I can use it to replace my 100-400 for airshows, having less weight will be helpful.

Well, despite the text this morning telling me the package was here and would need a signature, it is evidently still in Phoenix and "delayed" until at least Monday. I probably won't see another update until late Sunday evening.

I could have driven to the camera store in metro Phoenix today, and had the lens in my hands. Would have been a long day, but quicker than FedEx has become.

Normally, anything shipped via FedEx/ UPS/ USPS arrives at my location the business day after the package arrives in Phoenix or Tucson. Stuff originating out of Phoenix or Tucson is normally here the next business day.

That's super frustrating! FedEx is similarly bad around these parts. I've had perishables sit around over the weekend and thaw because they took about three days longer than they were scheduled.

Yup. Delayed perishables would irritate me.

Been reading posts by people across the country on multiple forums having issues with all delivery services and their stuff being delayed, going missing, etc...

Well, that was painful. I could have driven to the camera store in Phoenix and back in less time than it took FedEx to get the box from there to my town, once it started moving. Then it sat here for a day (I think it arrived after they already had the trucks loaded and moving for the day's deliveries).

Anyhoos - it's here. Big weight savings vs the 100-400. Smaller. Will definitely be more handy for getting out and about. One thing I already noticed is that I'm going to miss the lens OIS. And that might be a problem with slow shutter speeds needed for getting good prop blur on the old warbirds and helicopters. I'll have to see as I get out and test this thing.

Why are you “missing the lens OIS”? The lens has OIS.

Just got myself a GF1. Man, this one's built like a tank and has much more customisation vs Lumixes 5 years younger. I paid only NZD 75 shipped.

It has around 5,000 shutter releases and is in relatively good nick. The blemish around the handle is caused by the nails of one of the previous female owners, purely cosmetic.

Thanks for kicking me in the head. (I do need that on occasion... )

I thought it did, didn't see any controls. Just went back and looked to confirm. Labeled OIS, no physical controls. Now I need to go do some reading.

The E-P1 and the GF1 were well made cameras.

G1? Certainly one of those two ...

M.
G1 announced in September, 2008, and the GH1 in March, 2009. The E-P1 and then the GF1 came out later in 2009. (Obviously, I Googled all of this.) GF1 had better firmware at release, although Olympus did fix exposure and AF problems with a FW update shortly after they released the E-P2. Olympus and Panasonic did good work turning mu43 into a real system, especially with the lenses.

I remember being a bit bemused when you sold it thinking how could any Fuji user ever sell that lens :D . Surely one of Fuji's best lenses (although there's quite a few you can say that about), I remember being amazed by that close focusing ability.
I spent many years with the mindset that bodies and lenses are strictly tools. And if there was something which would do whatever job I was doing better. Then even something like the 16 1.4, which is one of my all time favorites, got sold. Then that gear would get sold when I had down time and I would shoot with the gear I liked more. Now I have the battle of getting it in my head I am not doing any photography that is working or down time. It's all for enjoyment.
