GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

After selling my nice but rarely used Ricoh GRii - with its interesting 28mm FOV wide angle view - I allowed myself one indulgence: I bought a 2nd lens for my new-to-me X-Pro3, the smallish semi-pancake XF18 with a similar FOV.

It's definitely more compact than my other Fuji lens, the XF 35 f/1.4 --

Given the kinds of shooting and photography I do, I suspect these two lenses will cover 99% of what I hope to do with the camera--

A minor note: I purchased the lens, in very lightly used condition, from a legitimate and responsible eBay seller in Thailand; it was shipped to me remarkably quickly, and the lens is in superb condition, as the seller promised it would be.

honestly, I’ve always liked the Fuji 18/2. Not the sharpest of the Fuji lenses, but sharp enough and it has character. One of the things I miss from the 35/1.4.

you’ll enjoy that lens the more you use it.

What does she think about me looking at the GR IIIx?

while she thinks the Ricoh GR series are a great EDC camera, she believes that the lack of built in view finder would seriously hold it back for me.

however, with the IBIS, and new lens, it should be a winner for a lot of people. She also feels that it’s your money and if you can afford it, not negatively impact your personal financial situation and it makes you happy, you should consider getting one for yourself.
Then use it to take some great photographs that you can share with us.

i paraphrased her of course. 😜

Two of my favorite lenses.
One for its near perfection.
The other for its imperfections.
Both equally satisfying.

Looking forward to both of your creations.

I had the same experience with an ebay seller called "thaimultigems". I've bought 3 lenses from him over the years, and they all got here faster than many US orders I've placed. One of them was the XF 18mm f2. Small world.

Good. As long as someone's spouse approves.

The grip has arrived and it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE for those longer lenses. I tried out the Nikon 300/4 PF and the 70-300/4.5-5.6E AF-P. The handling is so much better now in all orientations.

Arca-Swiss built in and it does not affect the FTZ in any way.

There was a big surprise as well. The grip is rubbery, but that is not all...the rubber side grip has a tripod socket on it! Not the usual orientation for most, but nice to have it there in case.
Just some quick cell phone snaps for your viewing pleasure. Going to run out at lunch at walk the dog and take some test shots with the 70-300mm again.

Looks to be at least as nice and well thought out as the base plate for the Z 50 - good on yer :)

Wanted a Z-zoom smaller & lighter than my Z24-70 f4 so I found this BNIB for <$300. Just had to give it a go and to my happiness found it to be much more than acceptable! At f11 it pretty much is equal to my 24-70!

:2thumbs:
Given that it's the only game in town as far as truely compact zooms for the FX bodies are concerned (the Z 24-70mm f/4 isn't big, but dense and surprisingly hefty), it's good to know it's a decent one. In fact, I look at it only this morning - but I own the Z 50 with 16-50mm, so it'd feel pretty redundant. That said, it plays really nicely with the Z 5, I can't help noticing ...

The Viltrox 24/1.8 is here and I have to say it feels nice. About the same feel to my hand as the Z 35/50 f/1.8, but smaller, but not by a lot. I'd have preferred a clicky aperture, but it does click from AUTO to f/16 and vice versa. The zoom ring is decently dampened, but the aperture ring feels like it is sliding on a metal rail. it is smooth, but you can hear it slide.

My in office AF testing is promising. Hope yo get out tomorrow or Wednesday to test it in the field.

Again, quick and nasty cell phone pics.
