Ricoh Shooter's Unabridged thoughts and feelings about the GXR

Ray, after this weekends historic shoot, if you want to try the camera, we can meet up and you can use it for a few days. Let me know.
I'd love to get together and check the camera out in the process. Not sure whether I'd want to tempt myself by using it for more than a few minutes, but maybe playing with it for a few minutes would change my mind...

But, for sure, its been a long time. A coffee or a lunch is definitely in order...

GXR - 3200 ISO example

Here's my try at 3200 ISO Don. I'm in Savannah, Georgia for work and a group of us from the company had a bite to eat and I grabbed this shot of one of our flight attendants:

I have a small Tamrac 5691 pouch that holds the camera w/28mm. It will hold it snuggly and an extra battery and a small lenspen.
The pouch will fit on a belt so it's really nice for a days shooting with just 1 lens.

Camera Bags

I really don't like camera bags as I travel extensively and find them more of a hindrance. I recently got back from a 7,500 km trip through Xinjiang China. I brought along a Newswear hip belt I used with an M7 and two lenses. Man is it great. The belt can be mid-sized or small as it lies flat. The openings have industrial strength Velcro closures which are annoying when you want to be quiet but fantastic in crowded streets in poor countries. It is virtually pickpocket proof. The construction is bomb proof and it is easily washable ( I wash covered in orange powder during the festival and it washed right out in a sink. Dry in an hour). There is a small section that lies flat against your body for your money, cards, ID, if having a wallet bulge is a risk. I just returned from India during the Ganesh festival and the Newsreader belt proved itself again. I highly recommend it and because of its flat profile, it would work well with the GXR and a few modules. newswear dot com

Thanks all, especially Lili....
Mike, good luck with your camera...

Duane. Maybe I was thinking about you but I was today for sure.
There's a camera store about 8 miles from me. It's a very good pro store. I know them for over 35 years. On the way home from the job today, I stopped in to get some cards for my daughter. I saw on the back shelf a GXR body with a finder on it.
So, they gave both to me for $150.00. Excellent condition but they are not Ricoh dealers.
It's been there for over 6 months.
So, due to you talking about the finder... Now I have one.

I have to $$$ events this weekend and I'm using the GXR only.
Thanks for the push as the finder, not needed that much works really well.

BTW, I pulled some 20 year old photos off a CD that I scanned from that incident I had from 20 years ago. A photographer had a motordrive film camera across the street from Lee's Hoagies there in Horsham. I thought about posting a couple but maybe a private viewing would be more appropriate.

Can't wait to hear your experience with the EVF. And that was a steal!

Duane, post some photos and maybe a little of the story.
Members like to know about heroes. Don't be shy bro'.

I did get a steal but they would never sell it. Just a body & finder. No box, papers, battery... Nuttin. I'm happy as a pig in uh...uh... Do do
