Single In Single in October (SiO) 2021 - day 31

Here's something different for the final day of SiO - Upon picking up an item from our local Supercheap Auto, an auto parts store in Australia and New Zealand, I noticed that instead of traffic cones blocking the carpark for Click-and-Collect, as we are not allowed to enter the store with the current restrictions, some of the staff members used their cars instead. I thought there was a photo shoot going on but no one was around the cars.

As always, I'll finish with the collage of entries. All pictures in "the light version" were taken on the GX9 with the 20 1.7, using the L Monochrom setting, should all be a bit abstract but feature a lamp. Until somewhere in the eighties my father used to work for a design lamp factory. Both he and the factory are no longer around. Last year we bought a house built in 1978. The previous owners left us some of their design lamps from that era. To our surprise they were made by the factory my father used to work for at that time. That inspired this month's theme.

Just to prove I can actually recognize a bicycle, here's one of my wife's two road bikes. Both are Specialized, her brand for road bikes. Her favorite is the other one, a white Ruby. She also has three hybrids that she uses for trails. She's done a number of long trail rides that start somewhere in Pennsylvania and end up in D.C. She has extra bikes because she lends them out to her riding friends if they don't have a hybrid for the trails. She remarkably good at fixing flats so she does some of that for the group.

I have appreciated so many of your individual photos, on a daily basis, Marlof; seeing them altogether like this really does remind me that there is truth to the old adage about a 'whole' sometimes being greater than the sum of its parts. Your ongoing monochrome studies with your GX9 and the great 20mm lens really have enriched and, at moments, inspired me.

I'll end with yet another grainy B&W conversion. Not that that's my favorite thing to do. Rather, it's an effect of my using SiO as a way to experiment with a "new" lens - and quickly finding out that neither the overall sharpness nor color reproduction was much to my liking . But it was fun to try to create some images I liked with it. I actually started SiO with a favorite camera and lens combo, but had to switch a few days in. Regardless, thanks to you all for welcoming me in this challenge - it has been a lot of fun.
