Excellent for the most part but I would like to see an option to opt out of sharing content on FB and Twitter since personally speaking I don't want anything to do with either of them.
That part would be difficult because new threads are auto posted to Twitter. Facebook are manually posted items. Facebook isn't used that much. I'm not a FB fan and the FB login integrations have been removed as an option. When the Twitter item is posted the data is the thread title, any thread tags that were entered, a preview of the first image in the thread, and a link to the Cameraderie thread.

If it is something that is really wanted then I can add it to my To Do list to review after the new year. ☕

Thanks, So does that mean there is no personal data - i.e. the thread initiator's name - included in the Twitter post? I can live with that. Otherwise I'll just be careful to add to existing threads and not start new ones:) I've no desire to add to your burden of managing the site.

Correct. The thread posters name, avatar, or anything else related to their account is not posted to Twitter. The text content of the thread is also not posted. For a person to view anything besides the thread title or preview image then they need to click on the link which will take them to the actual thread here at Cameraderie.
I can live with that.
I think we're good. 👍

Is there a FB group as well? Cant seem to find such.
Not really. There's a FB page (@CameraderieOrg) but I don't post much there. The amount of personal data that FB wants to collect is so off putting to me that I try to avoid any of their sites if I can. It may be just a bit of paranoia on my behalf, I know, but I don't like any services or apps that blindly collects data about me.

For those interested this is the last tweet from @Cameraderie.

I'm not happy about this change and in all likelihood won't post again as a result.
Nothing has changed other than documenting something that has already been in place for years.

Cameraderie is a free service. No ads are displayed. No "sponsored" content is accepted. Members opting to make a donation by a "subscription" is entirely voluntarily, nobody is asked to make donation, nobody is required to make a donation, and nobody is told to make a donation. Member data is not sold to marketing agencies nor is it used for promoting any other services or "shared" with anybody. It is a privately owned service and all team members are volunteers.

If having a minimal preview posted to Twitter for threads that are publicly viewable is too much for the usage of such a service, and if the benefits of having threads like the 'Buy/Sell' getting additional visibility are not immediate, then nothing I say or do will ever convince anybody otherwise.

Twitter is a cancer on our society and honestly I would like nothing more than to see it disappear.
I agree, it always makes me think of a quote I heard from an AM radio personality:

“Just because your opinions can now be heard all around the world, that doesn’t mean they are any more valuable than when they could only reach the end of the bar.”

Yet you post your opinions here, to 'be heard all around the world' ... how curious :)

If my opinions were being heard all around the world on Twitter I would be pretty chuffed. The reality is nothing like that.
