Leica Got an email from Leica ~ M11 teaser?

Interesting text about downsampled raw files of Nikon D850. Perhaps this gives you appetite (or lets you manage your expectations) wrt what Leica M11 is rumored to have.

There was an invitation to the Leica stores for 13th... It looks like everything leaked other than Leica selected user reviews.... I am sure Jono and others will post the reviews...

Not at all. The base plate isn't a big deal.

Interesting specs on that leak. Composited from various sources I understand, so not conclusive. The mechanical 1/14000 must be a typo. Electronic shutter sounds welcome. There's a good chance there's also EFCS then, although knowing Leica they won't bother to implement it.

Base ISO of 64? Big if true.

Silver model weighing only 530 grams? (M262 territory.) Big if true.

Besides, I didn't know that M10R can do 4.5 frames per second. That's a lot.

In the leak the new Visoflex is said to cost 695 €. Less than what I feared lol.
Proposed price is also just 8350 € so very close to what M10R BP goes for.

Yeah no. Because they slimmed M10 down to film body dimensions, the battery life had to suffer.

I also love my M240's battery life. Although my batteries are pretty worn.

But now that M11 is here soon, it means only one thing: M11P will be here in two years! Should I start saving now? 😎

Are you kidding? Now is when I start saving for a 240 MP to come down to my price levels!🤣
What will the M240 prices be at that time?

The bottom release of the M11 looks like the one used in my Argus/Cosina STL1000 to open the back.

I will be interested in the Saturation count for the new sensor. My M8 has the highest saturation count of any Leica M Digital.

M10-P - 7777 € (Retailer 1)
M10-R - 7999 € (Retailer 1)
M10-R BP - 8150 € (Retailer 2; sold out)
M11 - 8350 € perhaps?

The thing is that since the models are going to be very close to each other, I'd probably go for the older one used for great savings. But M10R is a very recent model itself and not many items for sale.

There's a retailer (#1) that foolishly will offer an extended 3-year warranty on any camera for free. Little do they must know about what teething problems Leicas can have!

Overgaard's first page of M11 review is out, unintended or not.

A big revelation is that the classic metering is out?! It's all on-sensor now. I don't know what to think about this.

At least the battery is supposed to last up to 1700 shots if shot in M-D fashion, 700 with normal LCD usage.

The big implication about the metering is that obviously now the shutter will be almost always open. Another big implication is that there isn't shutter lag shooting in this mode. M11 would be DOA if there was. Then again, can Leica deliver the camera with just an EFCS option, since it's a feature that can negatively affect bokeh in certain situations?

Quick Start Guide. The M11 still has a white balance sensor.

For electronic shutter mode, on-sensor metering is required. My observation.

The camera has a mechanical shutter. I would guess that in mechanical shutter mode that a traditional meter is used. No one in their right mind would put a mechanical shutter in a camera and require it to stay open just for metering. But then again- Leica put the worst lossy-compression scheme into the M8 for no good reason.

We'll know this afternoon.

What's this about? Why is the silver camera smaller/lighter than the black?

According to Mr. Overgaard's article, the black bodies are made of brass and the silver colored bodies are made of aluminum. You can choose lighter weight or prettier wear patterns... at least that seems to be the main thing with Leica users :)

I think so. I didn't read it fully, but why is it full with his own advertisement and m10P/SL2 photos instead of M11 photos that is expected in a review.... Kai also released the M11 video yesterday and put a password for access later...
Was just going to post that as I got an email from him, so I presume that it's intentional.

Overgaard's text I read this morning and now Jono Slack's review both say the same:

"now metering is only via sensor, [full time]"

I guess Leica had enough of people who don't understand the classic center-weighted metering and now caved into catering the lower common denominator...

"The M11's shutter blades are open much of the time, allowing the main image sensor to be used for metering. They quickly swipe across the sensor when exposure is initiated (in mechanical shutter mode, at least)."
