As per cnet site an slide form a recent Ricoh presentation shows what looks clearly to be an interchangeable lesn mount module scheduled for 2011 - probably M4/3. That could a real win-win - Ricoh certainly can make some excellent glass and have proved they know all about camera body ergonomics. Hope it's for real!:clap2:

Interesting, Ricoh's UI definitely beats the compact mft ones by quite a margin. So if they can come with a mft module with fast AF, the GXR could see some interest in the market. A GXR mft with the 20mm and macro 45mm Panasonic could be tempting.

The chart says it's APS-C. It might be a 28-90mm retractable zoom, similar to the micro-4/3 Olympus 14-42mm lens.

So this modular approach, am I correct that each module has its own sensor? The camera body is the mechanical means to get the image into the chip, and to control these lenses? I would guess these lenses are quite expensive, yes?

Each module is a sensor + lens combo that you attach to the body. Currently there is only one body, but Ricoh might bring out more in the future. The body contains the hardware that processes the images, runs the camera's OS and all that other stuff bodies do (like have a shutter release button). As for prices being expensive....you do own an X1, so maybe they're not that expensive to you

No, no - Miserere - I used to own an X1. I sold it several weeks ago. Remember your remarks to me about "buying shares of BP"?

Thanks for the explanation on the Ricoh design.;)

More lens mount module rumors

from mirrorlessrumors.com, says that during the recent GRD anniversary events, several Ricoh staff unoffifically confirmed a 4/3 interchangeable lens mount module will launch in early 2011. Theoretically it is possible they could make any type of lens mount although the reality is that there would probably be licensing issues that could prevent this happening.
