OK, so I finally got out and used this camera a little today. The weather was absolute crap. yesterday it was 70F (21C) and today we have a high of 36F(2C). No indication of snow from the forcasters, but it snowed for almost 2 hours today.

Not the perfect environment to try and learn the camera, but I'd rather have a bad day out shooting in crap weather than a good day at work! :)

What I did was I read this entire thread - all 8 pages. Looked at the example images and the wonderful conversations.
I agree with a lot that was expressed.

I do think that the JPG presets in the GRII are more organic and filmic as-is, versus the GR III. The GR III are not bad, just different. I think the newer lens and high MP sensor and the updated processing are cleaner. Setting up custom presets should fix it...but that will take some time.

I also agree with a prior post that the RAW files for this camera/sensor are FANTASTIC and allow for a lot of manipulation without falling apart. I shot RAW + with standard, hard B&W, and positive film jpg settings. The sample images are really good.

I did use the external hot shoe finder a little bit(cheapo from Amazon...but it did what I needed - helped me frame). Have to remember that there is parallax at close distances.

I found a lot of it to be very similar in handling and function as the GR II and it came back pretty quickly. It will still take some time for me to get back into the swing of things. Having that pocketable camera is nice. Very light and it is a bit different than the Fuji X100 cameras.

Enough of my blathering. Here are some images:
