I admit that I was hesitant to post this after yesterday's images, but: On my way home, I saw this - the yellow arrow marks the spot I hiked to yesterday!

Yesterday's hike was some 18 kilometres long (it also included some 750 metres of elevation gain in total; on the way back, I took the bus for about 2 kilometres to circumnavigate a blocked hiking path), today's, only 8 kilometres (not more than an extended stroll). Curiously, I felt much more exhausted today than yesterday ... it helps if the things you get to see are truely uplifting ...

Rocky Pool – Gascoyne River by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Rocky Pool is a semi-permanent pool of water on the Gascoyne River not that far from Carnarvon which is good for a swim. It does apparently dry out in the middle of summer but otherwise has water for the remainder of the year.

Memories of my Childhood by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

I grew up in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Mud pools and swimming in hot pools in the creeks (we didn’t understand the risks of meningitis then). This image reminds me of those mud pools and the hot pools.

Sadly, this pool is from land clearing, nothing good here for the environment.
