SOHO All In One (with decent photo printing)

I'm in the market for a high end, SOHO, all in one printer to replace an HP PageWide Pro MFP 477dw that's packed up at just on three years old. Lots of problems, long story.

The new Epson EcoTank printers appeal but I've no experience with them other than setting up an entry level model for friend to use on his Win 10 laptop. On paper the running costs make sense and reviews generally are good however I'd appreciate any and all comments from anyone who's used one 'in anger'.

I need, in no particular order,
- double sided printing
- double sided scanning, to and from
- ethernet
- print from mobile devices (Apple and Android)
- reliable scanning to both PC and Macs
- decent colour reproduction

Currently I'm looking at the EcoTank Pro ET-5880 (A4 but 2400dpi) or EcoTank Pro ET-M16680 (A3 but 1200dpi).

I wonder if anyone ever has told a 2400dpi print from a 1200dpi in ABX testing.
Sorry for the delay replying. You're right, I doubt anyone, myself included, would spot the difference. The trouble is I'm a quality junkie and I'd *know* there was a difference. 😆 Actually we don't need A3 so I'm edging towards either the 5880 or two smaller printers, one dedicated to photos for my daughter's use. The challenge is to decide which printer as there are so many EcoTank models. Almost as much choice as in the M43 lens range.

Quick update: too many international reviews mentioned paper jams on the Epsons so I went for a Canon Maxify GX7050. Early days but so far, so good. Plain paper printing is way better than the HP PageWide Pro it replaces. There are a few sheets of (very) old Canon Photo Paper Pro in the back of the cupboard that I might try putting through it.
