Fuji Fuji X-T5 Announced

It'll certainly provide some discussion as to whether you get the X-H2 or the X-T5 as they both have the same sized sensor. I bought the X-H2S as soon as it came out and for a short while was undecided on the handling. Now I'm used to it, the lack of handgrip of the old X-T3 makes the X-H2S a better prospect for me. I'll just have to try them out and see if I need to exchange my second X-T3 for something new!

Cool beans. Really happy to see more products like these. Give some priority to stills shooters.

Were I to re-enter Fujifilm world again, would have considerable difficulty choosing between XT3 (price/perf ratio) and XT5 (IBIS).

I am not in the market for a new camera, but I have to say the X-T5 looks very interesting indeed and in my opinion Fujifilm has done a nice job to differentiate this new model from the X-H2 flagships. In terms of pricing, at least here in Germany, it sits right inbetween the existing X-T4 (~EUR 1799) and the X-H2 (~EUR 2249). It is even lighter and more compact than the predecessor, let alone the new X-H2 models, it keeps the traditional dials quite a lot of people love about Fujifilm and brings pretty much all photographic centric features of those over to the new and compact body.

Sure the EVF still uses the older, known resolution, but personally I wouldn't have an issue with that. In my opinion Fujifilm made a pretty good product here and I am sure fans of the X-T series of cameras will have an interesting option to upgrade.

I really liked my A7Riii but used it mostly for photo challenges on this forum. I always grabbed my current Fuji for daily stuff, so I finally sold the Sony. The XT5 is pretty close to the being the Fuji version of that camera. It will be interesting to see how the current Fuji AF compares to the older Sony version, but I’m very curious about the sensor. I've seen some really good images from the XH2 out on the interwebs. It will be the first time I’ll use an XT# body.

I have also realized the this sensor provides incentive to get newer lenses like the XF 33. I’m sure Fuji hopes that happens.

The X-T5 really does look like a great offering from Fuji and glad to see them offering something for “us” photographers, since the XH2 options lean more towards a true hybrid shooter.

I wonder how well the XH2 will do though - may be another XH1 scenario with the XT3, but without the financial impact since the XH2S exists. It will likely be the sales leader in that arena and uses the same body, minimizing the risk.

Now that Fuji has that out of their system….I hope they give us an X-Pro4 with IBIS. They do that and the X-T4 will go up for sale. Not so much a MP chaser, so IBIS is really it.

I would love to run a dual X-Pro2 and X-Pro4 kit.

This! An X-Pro4 version of this, would be excellent. The new sensor, IBIS, and maybe an X100V screen? would be a huge hit. Launch it with a new compact 18mm f2 WR and 🤩

Fujifilm has released a list of lenses which are "required" to make the most of the new high-resolution sensor, pretty much the only lenses not on that list are the initial launched lenses back when the X-System hit the market or some kit zooms. On the other hand, the topic was briefly brought up in the DPR TV video review, it is essentially a non-issue, as even the 35mm f1.4 (which was more or less along the first X-System lenses) gets improved results when compared to the current X-Trans IV sensors.

Personally I am also hoping the X-Pro4 will have IBIS. It is pretty much the only thing I really miss on that camera.

When I wrote this comment yesterday, I started thinking about what would be different with the XT5 as opposed to the A7Riii. I cancelled my pre-order to think it out a bit and maybe look at some more in-depth reviews. We techie-types tend to enjoy gear discussions and it's easy to get caught up in the excitement. My daily photography is currently being supported by the GRiix, the XS10, and the iPhone, and it's not obvious how the XT5 is going to fit into that unless I make a commitment to carry it with me every day. It's a "Day of Shooting" camera, and I'm just not doing much of that right now.

It looks like a very nice camera and a good evolution of the line. Now that the 40MP sensor is starting to roll out, though, I'm a little concerned that it will become the default across the range over time. For me, the 26MP in my X-S10 is plenty and if I decide at some point in the future to buy a second body I would like the option to stick with 26MP. The good news is that there will probably be lots of second hand X-T4's appearing on the market soon so that should cover it.

I'm curious to see if they move the X-100 across to the new sensor and, if so, whether they also need to tweak the lens any to optimize it.

Me too, and I'm also hoping for image stabilization in the X100V successor, to me that's more important than increasing the sensor resolution.
Agree entirely. I have also been waiting for a stabilized X-100. Since the X-H2S is still using a version of the 26MP sensor I'm hoping they might use that in the next X-100 at least. I can't imagine it would make much economic sense to keep buying in the 26MP sensor for the relatively low volumes the X-H2S will sell at.

I actually had a quick look on MPB for second hand X-T4s and they have 77 on the US site and 65 on the UK site, so there should be no problem if I decide to pick one up!
