Ricoh The everything GXR Image thread!

I have customized the Image Settings 1 & 2. In one I have the Vividness turned all the way down to 1. Almost B&W but not quite. I also added some Contrast and Sharpening. In Settings 1, I have decreased the Red Hue and Vividness to 4. I have found occasionally the camera can overdo the Red channel and this is my way to play with that.

Another kitty cat picture! Taken through the patio window. I had also used theEP3 and PL 25 1.4 lens to take a similar set just beforehand but the Ricoh won hands down. Don't know whether to be happy or sad about that

The transition from in focus to oof is sooo buttery smoth with this lens, simply beautiful. Similiar to a classic Leica lens look.

That is a great portrait! Out of curiosity, since I sold my 25mm due to size, how does the E-P3 w/ PL25 compare to the GXR 50 in size? I just received my 50mm A12 module yesterday and it was smaller than I expected.

"Will has a thread just for this."

I was just thinking I'd like to get all these settings collected in one place! Maybe Will has done it already.Could you give me the link so I could take a look, please?

Thanks,

Thanks Don. Practiced a bunch with snap focus this weekend. Above shot was snap focus with camera held above everyone's heads and the cropped and pp with Silver Efex Pro.

Thanks all.... Duane, I use snap a lot. I like to play with in/out zones. The above of the little girl shows what I am working on. There's a certain way that snap will focus inside a zone and then let things softly fall outside out of focus both near and far.

I am experimenting with a flash unit on the camera. It's a Nikon SB 22s. So, if I have a zone of focus that's say.... 1 1/2 - 4 meters, I set the flash to light in that zone but not very deep in it. The results are coming along in a very interesting way. After I get it down and not look like an idiot, I'll post results.

The GXR is a very interesting camera. I'm able to do things with it easily that other cameras always put up a fight. That's not to say that other cameras can't do cool things, it's just that the GXR does it without effort.
I know the GXR shooters here understand and the ones that aren't...well.....sorry about that...

Today I came "this" close to ordering the A12 28mm module and my GXR hasn't even shown up yet but in a rare moment of restraint held fire. Maybe tomorrow I won't feel restrained. I feel I'll be missing something without snap at my fingertips, and probably will be. Further rationalizing getting the 28mm, it is fairly fast for the real focal length that it is , faster probably than all of the reasonably priced M mount alternatives. And I need at least one AF module. Are there any M mount f/2.5 or thereabouts 18mm lenses that don't cost many thousands? So yeah, it'll be in my bag.

I'm really liking the black and white images being produced by Ricoh shooters, and there seems to be so much fondness for b+w among Ricoh shooters. Lucky happenstance or?
