Birds Show Birds

My first outing with this combo yesterday. I caught nothing to write home about, however I was very impressed with the camera’s ability to track these birds under low contrast conditions, from very far away, even if other distracting elements entered the frame. Look at the red squares where the camera focused…right on their tiny little heads.

Hopefully more luck and better encounters this coming spring!

A surprisingly cool visitor this morning to the neighbor's tree - a bald eagle.
He perched atop the topmost branches, looking rather regal--

And surveying the street with his eagle eye--

Then I made the mistake of looking away right at the moment he took off.
So I was a fraction of a second late, snapping off two quick exposures.
Here is the first--

To my surprise, I like the abstract geometrical nature of the shapes and forms - and the unusual perspective of a flying raptor - more than I imagined I would. The second quick snap also gave me a different kind of photograph as well. (And look at those talons...!)

He is long gone now, but I hope he returns.
