Micro 4/3 I think I've found the perfect car lens

I think I've found the perfect car lens.

Took my E-M1 MkII + 12-100 + 8-25 to the Beaumaris car show today.

I put the 8-25 on the camera, and never changed lenses once.

Currently, I'm just reviewing the half resolution images on my 10" tablet. While it doesn't appear as crackingly sharp as the 12-100 (on my tablet, that is), it certainly appears sharp enough. There is little to be seen of the characteristic corner distortion exhibited by my FTs 7-14. Certainly not objectionably so, which would destroy it's usefulness for car photography.

Will keep you all posted when I've had a chance to examine the images more closely. There are some 240 or so of them.

John you shouldn't post such teasers. :ROFLMAO: Mention of a Car Show and not even one photo 😋
Now, do we hold our breath or wander down to the pub for something to drown the sorrows.

Look forward to the sight of gleaming beauties or whatever was on show

I wouldn't hold your breath, Richard.

I still haven't key worded last year's car show completely.

Maybe now I have a PC that doesn't take forever to do anything, and have many other life things finished, I will get onto it.

To whet your appetite, here's a Bugatti that's probably worth a lot more than our house. Very quick and dirty edit using Photoshop Express on my tablet.

My first thought: where does a car need a lens. Was a bit lost, too, because there was no shot clarifying it.
Having seen your Bugatti shot I had a serious bout of GAS. This lens has been teasing me for a long time. Your various comments on it and the photos you've showed so far are slowly tearing down the walls of resistance. Though I'm still considering myself more of a long focal length man, I think GAS will win.

Thanks John, and what a beauty.
Interesting headlight lenses. I assume one's original other replacement.
Love the low down shot.
One with the pattern will be for wide beam, and the clear lens will have a parabolic reflector behind it for long distance light throw. Almost certainly designed that way originally. Before the advent of light bars, I would often mount driving lights in that combination on my cars.

The light bar on my Forester is like letting off a small thermonuclear device about 500-600m up the road. The standard headlights are pretty good anyway.

I went to school with a guy who had Lucas Flame Throwers in the high beam light locations of his Capri. He could burn down trees at a thousand yards with them.
AoA, lightbars are nowhere near as good at long distance throw as e.g. a 100W aircraft landing light I used one on one car. However, they illuminate the roadside exceptionally well, and that's where the kangaroos and cattle usually are.

If I cannot react and stop from (say) 130 kmh in 500m, I shouldn't be driving a car at all!

You can see the kangaroo bar in my photo above. My car has an aluminium bonnet, with the top radiator tank about 2-3 inches behind the leading edge. That's what the roo bar is there to protect - the radiator and top of the engine.

Love these vintage cars!

I've uploaded every single photo I took that day, here:

About 240 of them.

If you want to find any particular make, type it into the search box at the top right hand side of the screen. Be aware that this will display thumbnails from my entire site, not just that directory. You can use the little icon to the right of the search box to narrow the search by many parameters. Default behaviour is "Find all".
