First True Outing With Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (image heavy) (seewhatIdidthere?)

CURSE YOU @gryphon1911!!!

The Maxxum 7D thread was more than I could stand. I kept an eye out for one but found nothing local and was reluctant to order one from eBay. Checked KEH every day, and a few days ago there it was! A Konica-Minolta Maxxum 5D. Same 6MP CCD sensor, same anti-shake, a few less features, but the biggest difference control-wise is that the left dial was reduced to white balance selection. Other than that, the 7D is bigger and uses a lot of metal, while the 5D is more consumer grade and mostly plastic. It actually feels pretty good in the hand and reminds me very much of my G9.

Two lenses used today, both Maxxum. Most are the 28-135, the military memorial statue and the geese swimming are with the 85/1.4.

I agree with the 6MP CCD impressions, but, do you guys have with your Maxxums, the best stock strap ever released for a camera?

It's highly recommended, especially when one wants to wear a DSLR.

:ROFLMAO: I came very close to buying one for the cool factor, then remembered how much I hate neck straps! I think I still have one from my Maxxum 7000.
I wear it everywhere, cross-body. It has enough grip to stay and sling around. It's still comfortable even when wrapped around the wrist. I got the idea from some Pentaxians, saying that it's just the best. I don't wear it around the neck because of the strain on C5 and C6.

But yes, that cotton polyester webbing is just top notch. It's just sooo comfortable!

OK enough with the Maxxum strap admiration.

If it’s long enough to use as a shoulder strap, I could be persuaded…

Ok, I’ve looked on evil bay and found several, but none like yours. I see them with the Minolta emblem on the end leather in gold or white, but no plain black. Did yours come like that or did it wear off? With my luck I’ll end up with the uncomfortable scratchy version!

Yes, it's adjustable up to a cross-body length and the friction is good enough to be a sling but is still a bit more grippy than a PD slide.

Mine did not come with the strap and I've abandoned neck straps more than 10 years ago.
I don't like wearing them around the neck. I can only wear them cross body so they must be at least 130cm. I was looking at the Australian Lucky Straps which are designed to slide cross-body but I can't wrap one around my wrist.

I think the golden Minolta in between the two webbings just wore off. The one on the leather is just a soft print, while the Maxxum logo is heat-pressed.

Ok, I found a brand new one still in the package for $13 shipped. I hope it’s as comfortable as you say, if not I’m going to send @gryphon1911 after you!

A few more from the last couple days, all with the 28-135. Love this lens.
