Micro 4/3 Showcase Olympus 75-300mm ii

These are crossposted, but @RAH was asking about crop. The following are uncropped, but scaled down for forum use. Usually I just have to do a little cropping to get framing how I want it.

Nice rabbit! I like the combo of the E-M5.3 and 75-300 very much - it's my regular walk-around birding setup. I have found that if you stop down to f7.1 or f8 the lens does get somewhat sharper, and probably worth the loss of shutter speed or the need to boost the ISO (depending on the light, of course). For example, on your shot, I think using ISO 1600 and f8 would have given you a sharper image without hurting the shutter speed. But even wide-open, the lens is very good. :)

Ha, well I meant to upload another one taken with the same lens, and then I realized the other photo was taken with my 40-150 f/2.8.
Here is another one I found with that same lens. That first photo was taking from one side of the Hood Canal, in Washington State, across the canal, and zoomed into the hills leading up to Mt Constance.

This photo was taken on my way down from a night shooting the Milky Way, where I stopped on the steep hill, and quickly grabbed my camera, and scrolled the f-stop all the way to f/22 without thinking. Either way, it didn't turn out too terrible for learning things the hard way.

Hooked it up to an extension tube, which pretty much removes the minimum focus limitations. You'll lose long-focus with it on, but you still get maybe 20 feet to work with at 300mm. At 75mm, you can be right up on your subject, as seen in the second shot. All these are barely cropped, if at all.

Edit: just checked and it’s a 16mm tube on the above.

Haven't used this lens for awhile... but putting it on my E-M5.iii reminds me of why I like it so much.

It has a great range.

And somehow, it always manages to surprass my expectations.

@Darmok N Jalad and the others: Looking at these wonderful shots I decided to take this lens for an outing today.
Here are just a few I shot (x-posts). With low lighting you reach very soon your limits (especially with the E-M5), but the range of this lightweight is just immense - in earlier times you'd have had a lens as long as your forearm weighing more than a kilo.
