Show - Shots in 65:24 / XPAN Aspect Ratio

Kilchurn Castle! Lovely photo!

You won't believe what they've done to it now - it's surrounded by ugly metal fencing. I guess some "jobsworth" with a health and safety agenda decided the public needed protecting from their own stupidities and so up goes the fencing. Terrible, terrible, terrible idea.

Aww no! That looks like construction site fencing. I hope that it's temporary.

It seems it's been there a while. Apparently, there's been no structural inspection since 2020 (allegedly due to Covid), so we little people need protecting. It seems a big warning sign isn't enough. Crazy world - to protect the idiots we all need to suffer this sort of nonsense.

Until someone's little child falls down a sink hole into the basement that's just opened up??? Or to stop the vandalism and graffiti that had started happening??? Or some of the stones at the top had fallen and they were worried others might fall???

It's always inconvenient when this sort of thing happens... until you or a loved one gets hit by a falling tile that you didn't know about.

It’s probably not even that, but to protect against lawsuits due to personal injury. Signs and warnings don’t mean that someone won’t sue or get some sort of settlement. It should be as simple as, “if you aren’t willing to accept the risks of being here, then don’t be here,” IMO. It’s not a McDonald’s, or some other dwelling where reasonable public safety accommodations should be expected. It is a “ruin,” where the name implies quite a bit, right?

It's not Paul, it's Collado de Llesba in Picos do Europa, northern Spain. Here's the full image which I think is miles better.

The 65:24 / XPAN Aspect Ratio doesn't exactly lend itself to photographs of mountain ranges. - Too much height. It does lend itself to photographs of "big sky" country, such as Australia, which is mostly big and flat. I am having great fun playing around with some of my old 16:9 images to see which ones look better in the 65:24 aspect ratio.

We have the same nonsense here in NZ. Currently all the country parks are closed post Gabrielle, because trees are unstable and water potentially toxic. As if we can't make that decision for ourselves.
