So that the chance of such shennaningans are off the table. Primarily bought due to the bag, but the camera will be the 6Mp representation for the somewhat expanding Pentax hoard.

Being a greedy hog, the €35 all in price tag made me do it. Hopefully the Topload2 bag will be deep enought to suit the G9/PL50-200 combo due to lens creep when it is just slinged.
Lovely find, those DNG files will be very easy to deal with if you ever use the camera. From my own experience the G9 with Pany Leica 50-200mm will fit in that bag (the lens is very compact) and it will fit with the lens hood reversed too.

Indeed, using it is what its bought for. Probably not very much use as such, but every now and again it will probably find its way into the bag for an outing, not as the primary shooter, but more along the lines of an added spice/flavouring.

That is good to know, I have been pondering getting some sort of toploader for that particular set-up, but want to "hit it right" from the start. If I were to get a new one, it would include a trip to the city and such hassles. This one, with the added value of the camera, falls well within the fail-safe borders as such. :drinks:

2 of my favourite camera bags (that I own for over 5 years now and I have no plans of changing them) are top loaders.
Crumpler Jimmy Bo 200 and Crumpler Quick Escape 800.

The Bo 200 could fit Oly E-M1 with Oly 12-40 or Pany 50-200 (I usually kept a lens in the bag and the camera with the other lens in my hand. Now it's fit my Sony a7 IV with my Tamy 28-75 G2. The bag won't fit the G9i think, to tall.

The Quick Escape 800 is my favourite because I can wear it at my hips or over the shoulder. And it fits all the lenses I ever owned. Initially I have Oly E-M1 III and I could fit it with my Oly 7-14, 12-40 and Pany 50-200, then I swapped and I squeezed in Oly 12-100 and Oly 100-400. Now, after switching to Sony, I keep my Sony a7 IV with Tamy 28-75 G2, 70-180 and 150-500 when I go hiking or on an adventure. On trips like that I use the backpack only for food, water, clothes and tripod.

I’m now the proud owner of this Nikkor 70-210mm f/4. This makes “unapproved” photo purchase #1 of the year, but at a whopping $48 bucks, I’ll absorb the hit. It’s apparently quite the sleeper lens, and I actually don’t have a zoom in this focal range for my F mount collection. Should be fun!

Well, thanks to a thread that resurfaced here a couple days ago, I’m now the proud owner of this Nikkor 70-210mm f/4. Nice find! I had one of these when they were current/new (I believe with an N8008s/F-801s body). Image quality was great, I wish I still had one!

Yup, this would’ve aligned with F801s…I think these were made from about 86-89, before they moved to the cheaper variable aperture version. Supposedly quite a good lens, and a complete steal for the money nowadays. I’ll be curious how it holds up on both my D1X and my Df. Also has some good close focus capabilities with a 1 to 4 magnification.

With the impending delivery of my dual CPU tray, I also ordered an X5690 to go with the one I already have in my single CPU tray. Will just do a swap out when everything arrives. Maybe I'll get another 24GB of RAM for $30 too and get myself to 48GB. :D

Old server/workstation CPUs can be had for next to nothing. For example, a 12 core 24 thread Xeon E5-2697 v2 can be had for about $35. Find an old HP or Dell workstation, like the Z420, with the base Xeon in it, upgrade to what was once a very expensive 12 core Xeon, and you can get a lot of multithread performance for under $200. With used GPU prices getting far more appealing, you can build a poor-man's workstation that can play quite a few games for under $400.

My first tele zoom. Bought it from KEH. Used it with a D50 back in 2006. I loved that thing.

I got a chance to shoot it quite a bit at the Wppi2023 Conference(amazing). AF performed much better than expected. Static subjects with both eye/face AF. This was a good test of the subjects I like to shoot.
I've wanted a 75mm lens for Fuji for quite some time. I'll be very interested in your thoughts on this. AF performance too.

Just had to try a long telephoto for my diminutive X-E4 so ....... what is being delivered today is a Fuji XF 100-400 beast.
Oh, and BTW, also have on the way a P/L 100-400 for my G95.
Aaahhhhhhhh ... G.A.S. pains never end! :shakehead:
OMG!!! I think I'm going to have to start some arm and back strengthening exercises! What a BEAST!

That was rather quick...

Picked it up this evening, the good battery in the charger as I type. Came in its box, complete with all sundries including the OEM plastic bags wrapping the parts when fresh from the factory.

There is one bit of paint lacking, from a "stud" at the bottom. Having done my DD, I fired it up, shot a jpg and entered that into a shutter actuation counter at www.apotelyt.com, and that stated that the camera has a whopping 677 actuations... :headbang:

First impression is that it is a hefty little beast. Must admit I am a bit keen to see what it can do and I am looking forward towards getting the 30-110 and the flash some time next week.

Checking the system further, the V2/70-300 combo seems to be a rather nifty super-tele set up, giving a 189-810mm equivalent at 887 grams, which to be frank, is borderline insane. That would be a tad above half the weight of a G9/PL 100-400 combo, which would be an equivalent set-up in the M43 world. Not to mention the hernia inducing FFs, if there is anything giving about that reach there.

I have a 50mm that weighs about 2lbs 🙄🤣
As a father of 3, there’s always a chance I might have to carry something quite heavy, so I prefer a light camera kit. One time I even had to carry 2 kids after they ran into each other and bonked heads. Other times, I get tasked with carrying provisions since I have a bag or clothing with actual useful pockets!
