Interesting that the Nikon picture, with a cheap and far shorter lens, seems the more pleasing of the two shots to me...

It's a far more pleasing composition, Irene. The first is a better spy photo - i.e. an expert could tell whose submarine it was, and what it might be up to!

Tian Chang He by Andrew Priest, on Flickr

Tian Chang He (IMO: 9300324) is a container ship registered and sailing under the flag of the China People's Republic. Her gross tonnage is 66,800, and her deadweight is 67,209 tonnes. Her overall length (loa) is 278.94 m, her beam is 40 m and her maximum draught is 14.02 m. Her container capacity is 4632 teu. She was built in 2005 by Koyo Dockyard, Mihara and is operated by Cosco Shipping Lines Limited.

I photographed Tian Chang He as she passed through the mouth of the Swan River heading into the Fremantle Inner Harbour on 23 March 2022. Her last port of call was Port Lang.

Whilst in Fremantle she was attended to by Gulf Agency Company (Australia) Pty Ltd.

The other interesting aspect of the Tian Chang He is she has a 2,000 W tunnel thruster. Not something I can recall featuring on other container ships I have photographed visiting Fremantle.

Absolute 1 (IMO: 9869447) is an oil products tanker registered and sailing under the flag of Singapore. Her gross tonnage is 6,087, and her deadweight is 8,646. She was built in 2019. Her overall length (loa) is number 114.99 m, her beam is 19 m and her maximum draught is number 7.5 m. Her container capacity is 0 teu. The ship is operated by BP Australia Pty Ltd.

I photographed the Absolute I on her departure from her berth at Fremantle Port on 22 March 2023

Whilst in Fremantle she was attended to by ASP Ship Management Pty Ltd.

Majestic Princess (IMO: 9614141) is a passenger ship registered and sailing under the flag of the United Kingdom. Her gross tonnage is 144,216, and her deadweight is 11,277. Her overall length (loa) is 330 m, her beam is 38.4 m and her maximum draught is 8.55 m. She was built in 2017 by Fincantieri Monfalcone, Monfalcone, Italy and is operated by Princess Cruise Lines Ltd.

I photographed the Majestic Princess as she passed the port light C, FI.R.4s on her departure from the Fremantle Inner Harbour on 22 March 2023. As she passes the North Mole light, she swings to port to follow the Deep Draft Vessel Approach (Transit Corridor). The pilot is expected to depart at the Inner Pilot Boarding Ground. Her next port of call is Adelaide.

Whilst in Fremantle she was attended to by Inchcape Shipping Services.
