Any idea what this is/was?
Yes, it was in an abandoned barn so I'm taking it that it was some kind of farm implement maybe for soil cultivation.Any idea what this is/was?
Hay rake?
the barn was down by a river in Swaledale, North Yorkshire and there are a number of abandoned and derelict barns there.Hay rake?
Places the cut hay into rows, so that it can easily be picked up by the hay baler.
Not like any I've seen around here John. These were used to rake the hay into rows to be later picked up with a loader. I remember this as a young kid. When balers came along a side delivery rake was used which kind of spun the hay and cast it to the side in a row. Like spinning thread it caused the hay to stick together and make it easier to get drawn into the baler.Hay rake?
What a shame. That could be such a beautiful home.A very exclusive resort...if you don't mind the chains in the attic rattling!View attachment 382165View attachment 382166
