Announcement Nominate an image for the front page!

Many thanks, John-- that is too kind of you. I never thought I'd get one of my photos good enough to be nominated, Thanks also to @Bobby T and to @will focus. I apologize for the delay in responding (I've not been feeling well).
You're welcome, Rashid.

In my long journey in photography, there are two things that I have found hard - 1) accepting constructive criticism, and knowing whether praise is genuine, or not; and 2) hardest of all, learning to be self-critical, without bashing myself up ...

Learning to look at one's own photographs as if they were taken by someone else, and honestly appraising them as such, has been extremely difficult.

My good lady wife has an excellent photographer's eye, and I know that I can (mostly) trust her judgement. She doesn't pander to me, shall we say!

The weakest elements of my photography have always been composition of form and colour, and learning to photograph what I'm actually seeing, rather than what's somewhere in my field of view.

Both my wife and I, and others, think that I have improved greatly with these things over the last 16 years. Basically, digital photography has been a godsend for me.

The technical side of photography, which many struggle with, has always been easy for me. Just makes sense.

Several books have been extremely useful with my journey.
However, I need to turn on my computer to access that document.

While I really appreciate these nominations, just a tiny wish: It'd be great to have varied subject matter on the front page in order to create a good representation of what's going on overall. But of course, each of these images truely deserves the front page! Keep the nominations coming!

M.
