Fuji X-PRO 1 Fully Leaked by French Magazine 'Responses Photo'

Sorry, this is quite a biased statement. Look at your own numbers. 59 grams difference to your beloved NEX 7 which does not come with a f1.4 53mm equivalent focal length but with an almost one full stop slower 35mm equiv. one. And to the argument of the Fuji Pro with all three lenses being heavy, we are talking about a fast 28mm equivalent, an even faster 53mm equivalent and a reasonably fast macro, short 90mm tele equivalent lens. How much would a NEX7 with equivalent NEX mount lenses weight (oh, I forgot there aren't any). However, your "heavy beast" title would go to the NEX7 in this case, wouldn't it?

I don't think David is biased here, though I do think he's trying to talk himself out of getting the Fuji! ;)

The newest rumor at mirrorlessrumors.com is putting the price back down to $1,300 with lens, but I would say his source is flawed.

I agree. David is not being biased. I would say that similar to me, David has no loyalty at all (to brands). No loyalty in a good way of course!! :)

But I disagree that he's trying to talk himself out of getting the Fuji. In fact, my money is that he'll be the first one in this forum to get one! And no, I won't be the second one!

Fuji do appear to have real photographers on staff. Amazing.

What is a real photographer? Is there a checklist somewhere?

With the retro looks and controls, the emphasis of the viewfinder, and the premium price point of the X-Pro1 I would say the Fuji is being heavily guided by photographers with an eye towards the way cameras used to be designed and built. It will suit someone who values that idealology, but not everyone. Offer this camera to someone used to the ergonomics and control layout of an SLR and they may not think that many real photographers were consulted during the design process. Different opinions, different points-of-view.

Just to show the size differences and the evolution of serious compacts since 2008 Sigma dp1:

Crop sizes: 1.5, 1.5, 1.5, 1.7, 2

I think the new Canon has also similar height but narrower. This is quick comparison. I should have included X100 too.

If I could find one I would buy it right now

Well, it wasn't meant as an overly serious comment. Easy now...

But, having said that, I would disagree with your comments regarding SLR users. I am one - and to me it's not so much the specific design that reflects real-world (hence photographer ) thoughtfulness, but more the philosophy of the design. But, as you say, different points of view.

Running away...closing my eyes...and reminding myself that maybe in a year or so, I can think about this.

I am, however, enjoying reading and keeping up with you all.:th_salute:

This product release has me seriously thinking...... FAST PRIME AF Lenses on a modern sensor with low light capability in a not too large size that I could haul around without too much trouble.
