Serious Compacts Podcast 1: Arrival of the 'X' Cameras

I'm about half way through, and have enjoyed hearing everyone's voices. Naturally, I've heard Amin's voice before but never Armando's or Terry's and I have to say that it felt good being able to put real voices with the people I've either known (Armando) or known of (Terry) for a long time. Impressive debut!:bravo-009:

I was listening to it on my iPhone while driving...but then it stopped at about 41 minutes and I can't seem to see how to continue, so I guess I'll listen via iTunes later on.

Well done and thank you all!

Wow, this is AWESOME! I've got to say I think the Podcasts are a great idea, it great to be able to put some voices to our friends here on site, it somehow makes the whole experience more realistic. It's also great to see Terry around here (not sure if Terry is a member though as I've been absent for a while), I've also enjoyed seeing her work and reading her thoughts over at Getdpi.

My thoughts on the Fuji camera, wow and finally a manufacturer has stopped beating around the bush and given all those who have been asking a for a camera with this kind of look. It seems to have great IQ and a proven VF system, I just hope AF is fast and accurate and that the camera has an intuitive user interface and button lay out and a DOF scale on screen/in VF for primes, which would help for street etc. A little disappointed that the lenses electronic focus/aperture ring, though I accept this has to do with build+size issues (probably).

Anyway I have to say I'd love to see more podcasts or even videos? Although I know this might hurt bandwidth wise.

Keep up all the great work!

PS Amin... you should have introduced Armando as the King of Gas ;-)

Nice idea. Haven't heard it all the way through yet (and not really that interested in gear talk:)) but looking forward to more in the future.

Are you open to suggestions? Not that I have anything in mind at the moment but if we do have ideas should we PM them to you for consideration? I'm sure a lot of folks here might be able to come up with some great subject matter you could tackle in future episodes.

Olli, I would love to get suggestions, either in this thread or by PM. Email is also good.

This was an excellent podcast. Its not easy to get a good flow and rapport and you three did it right out of the gate. I completely understand why this one was focused mostly on tech, given the week's announcements. But I do hope you get into topics regarding the making-art side too. There are so many great compact cameras out there but not as much interesting art. My suggested future topic: Kill cliché now!

Like a few of the others I listened to it in a few sessions. I enjoyed it. I very much like the format of a discussion and shared perspectives. This is one of the factors that I enjoy on this forum: different experiences and viewpoints expressed without so much of the right and wrong judgement making a mess of things.

Great idea. I admire you for trying it. Keep going. More than happy to take part too.

I listened to it all the way through in one sitting. It was very good, but too much information to process at one time, for this senile, old, codger. You all covered the details very well on each, but after while it all begin to run together in my head. Cannot remember which part of each camera you liked better. As a follow up, how about each of you pick which one you would choose for your only camera.(as if you could actually live with only one;))
I currently only have a DSR, and am looking ahead to something smaller with good IQ, maybe VF. Have had E-p1 and G1 in past.

Terry also shoots medium format. From the smaller systems, she said her main choice today was the NEX-7.

My #1 pick is the Olympus E-P3.

Armanius, which is your one camera to rule them all? :polling:
