These are the first two shots with my new S95 I'm not sure about these at all except for the indoor artificial flowers taken without flash.
I notice that this cam only goes up to f8 which is not what I've been used to for scenic shots?

I also cann't use 'lightroom' with Raw or Raw and Jepg it doesn't support them...shame.

The thing with the s95 (& s90) I find is that there is lots of detail in the images and they are sharp and crisp. Those flowers look great!! For now process the RAW in DPP as much as possible then save as a TIFF file which will keep much much more info in the file than a Jpg file. There will be support for the s95 soon..........I can't wait!!

The nature DOF is, with lenses giving the same angle of coverage, the S95 at f/8 has greater DOF 35 mm at f/16. If you arbitrarily take the S95 at say 6 mm that is equivalent to 18 on a half frame dSLR, and 28 mm on a full frame dSLR. If you focus at sat 2 feet the DOF would be 9" for the S95, 4" for the half frame, and 1" for the full frame. So at f/8 the only thing you have to get use to is too much DOF :)

What a fantastic photo. How I wish the fellow on the right was not there. Nice capture.

Thanks Javier

I was taking a lead from you as you are the expert in this department - I thought about getting rid of the guy - but I like to crop to standard sizes

The best I could do was a 1:1 crop and then reduce the height a little

I also did not want "all the heads" of the girls showing and I felt that the girls hair on the extreme right "had a feel" to it - and with the 1:1 crop she is no longer in the shot

The best I can do is as follows - and as you know you have to be careful with shots like these as you only get one chance

Thanks Andy. I also had a 60D with me but wanted to see what the S95 could do. While it certainly won't outperform the 60D with an L lens, the S95 held its own and did turn out some very decent images. I tried the S95 in-camera mono and sepia settings and found the images were too flat for my taste. The results are much better just using the color image and converting to B&W in PP, which in my case Silver Efex Pro.

John, I'm a little late to the party here but also wanted to thank you for adding these. The wildness of the river really comes across loud and clear. It's fun to see your S95 pictures, having seen your mu43 shots over "across the hall", probably from the same day? Most people wouldn't believe that this kind of country is so close to Washington D.C.! I like both the color and the black and white - they give such different feelings. The color version really makes me feel the icy cold of that water the most.

Bill, I am sorry that I didn't have a chance to comment with more than a "thanks" button hit on yours. I can definitely see what you were after on this one. I'd consider "cutting" their heads off even more, which allows us to concentrate on their different stances just that much more. Either way, you're a brave man!

P.S. My apologies for missing a number of earlier pictures by others - Vidar and Penny. I was away and only online briefly during that time. Mea culpa!!

Thanks Andy & BB.

BB, both of these were run thru HDR Efex Pro. It works just like the rest of their programs, which I know you are familiar with. It is a decent program for HDR processing especially if you are new to HDR. I works well for processing multiple HDR images into one image, but also works well on tweaking just single images depending on the effect you seek. I just wish you didn't end up with such large-sized image files when you get back to your library. I guess that is just something you have to expect when using the Nik stuff. I also have tried Photmatix and while it is also very good, imho, Nik's program is easier for beginners and does a nice job of automating the process.
