Day 9 - Pushkadoodle

...that mean old mouse-catcher.....NOT!
I love cats, not nearly enough of them. Trouble is, there are too many for the wildlife. My lad is mostly an indoor kid, just goes out for ablutions.

This old cat has clearly had her days of mousing and has now gracefully retired to the life to which she has become accustomed, and rightly so (just ask her). Love the shot and the detail.

The most recent figures are from the Mammal Society, which estimates that the UK's cats catch up to 275 million prey items a year, of which 55 million are birds. This is the number of prey items that were known to have been caught; we don't know how many more the cats caught, but didn't bring home, or how many escaped but subsequently died.

The most frequently caught birds, according to the Mammal Society, are probably (in order) house sparrows, blue tits, blackbirds and starlings.

I'm a dog person myself but that is a really nice capture of your cat Mark. I can see my dog drooling behind me.
