It is unusual for the mountains behind our place to hold snow for more than a couple of days at a time. This lot has been there almost a week, being topped up most nights. Its been blowing a (cold southerly) gale since Friday and isn't forecast to stop before this coming Friday.
The bare hills in shadow at the foot of the range on the left side of the image are part of our farm. We live at the bottom of those hills.
