SIJ - Day 14
Puerto Rican painter, sculptor and performance artist Oscar Mestey-Villamil

As I may have mentioned before, I do some pro bono photography work for the Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art. Mr. Mestey-Villamil has an exhibit that is opening at the Museum on the last week in January. I photographed the works that are to be included in the exhibit for the catalog, but there was one installation that had not been photographed. I did that today, and took the opportunity to do a couple of informal portraits of the artist. This is one of them.

The photo was taken at the Museum. In retrospect, I wish I had used a wider aperture to throw the background more out of focus.
that's a great portrait, looks like a really kind personality. More OOF background would've been nice, sure, but it's already great as it is!

A nice portrait Antonio that really expresses how engaging this artist must be. A very balanced B+W treatment here too.

I don't think the background is that bad personally.

I almost fell over when I read this artist's last name. A good friend of mine from Puerto Rico has the last name Villamil. But I digress!

He looks very relaxed, Antonio so you did well to put him at ease. I, too, like this portrait...and agree that you positioned him well for the lighting and everything else. He looks as though he's a very friendly man and quite approachable.
