SIJ - Day 15: University Dining Hall (The Commons), Yale University

Colonnade outside of University Dining Hall (The Commons), Yale University. My shot of the Beinecke on the 13th was shot from the same vantage point, approximately 120 degrees to the right.

Commons at one time was the only dining hall and remains the largest. While each of the residential colleges have their own dining rooms, students form the residential colleges can also use this common dining room.

I just could not get this right. I shot it every day for a week. Mostly shot it without raising the angle of the lens to avoid distortion. However, like the Dwight Hall "Cathedral," I realized this space is impressive in its height. Therefore I changed the orientation to accentuate that feel. Of all the shots I took, this one is my favorite.
I'm sure that I would never be able to "get this right", Seaain - that said, I think you've given us a real feel for the greatness of this setting with those tremendous columns and the long walk...towards the doorway at the end.

The tall columns and the small door at the end of the corridor gives me a sense of what Alice must have felt in Wonderland.
