Birthday boy

G1 with Zuiko 14-150 @ 20mm, f4.3, 1/10sec and ISO800 using tripod. It was a very dull and dreary day here.
Excellent portrait, with very nice processing, which seems to say much about the man.

I must say though Kathy he doesn't seem that overjoyed with reaching another milestone.....did you happen to get him a book for his birthday? ;)

As said - nice portrait which captures the gravity of this man. Mono is a perfect choice.

Maybe it is all the titles, or maybe the focus is more on the books than the man, but my eye gets drawn to the books quickly - just an observation without declaring that wrong or right. It's a great environmental portrait. I wonder if you have another with the books slightly out of focus and the birthday boy in sharper relief, and I'd wonder if that would be as strong.

I agree with you. Unfortunately the lens I've chosen is so slow ii's almost impossible to have an oof background.

I rarely take second looks at portraits of people I don't know ... this image has something extra that persuades me to do so, and I wonder if not composition but the moment
