Despair
My wife and I fell in love with the bold pattern of the swirly chair when we first saw it. We also thought it would be great because the pattern would help to hide all the pet hair (2 dogs and 2 cats). What we failed to take into account was that Lucy would treat it as her personal dog bed every day while we were at work.

Sometimes both dogs sit on it and look out the window. At night, my wife sits on with one dog, and one of the cats curls up behind her head and naps on the back.

But the cushion has recently changed from being worn-looking to a state of total despair. The rest of the chair is in fine shape, so I think we're just going to have a new cover made for the seat cushion. Of course it will never match, but I think we can get another 4 or 5 years out of it.

We made a conscious decision that sharing our furniture with our dogs was more important to us than having nice furniture. As I type this Charlie (in the photo here) is napping in my lap. It's a great feeling I wouldn't trade for all the chairs in the world.
nice focus Luke, a photo also possible for the "time has passed" theme !
