The image was taken at ISO 1250 with my M8 - normally anything over the minimum of ISO 160 - sometimes ISO 320 and the results can be (maybe, usually are), somewhat disappointing
Siena is on my list of places I must see. I wrote an essay on the Palio when I was at university and have been intrigued to see the place ever since but not during the Palio ... too big an excited crowd for me! Looks like you got a little respite from the crowds in the cathedral.
Briar, - we missed the Palio, on the 2nd I think, (we were in Grasse) - but there was still sand in Piazza (del Campo) on the 5th
Tuscany is incredible - I mean incredible, and incredible - we have booked a return visit for next May
