Jan 9 -Stairway to...?
So, this morning I got up early, drove all the way down to the New Forest, parked up overlooking the cliffs at Barton on Sea, pointed my camera at The Needles and... Nothing. Flat, boring, nothingness. Great gorbs of nothingness. More nothingness than an empty biscuit tin. Flatter than a pancake. Less contrast than a sheet of white paper in a snowstorm.

In the Antarctic.

On Monday.

So I turned around and snapped the steps back up to the carpark instead. Not my best...
I know the feeling, and I only walked half a mile from home. However it has to be said that you were a lot more inspired than I was, perhaps driven by having invested a lot more into your enterprise than I had. By the way I do like your description of the conditions, most eloquent.

Nice centred composition and I like the transitions from dark to light. As inherently lazy as I am, these steps (esp. due to the tonal transition) beg to be climbed. I want to know what's atop them!
Agreed, you are a wonderful story teller, Bill. You made the best of an uninspiring visit by looking at it all differently. Good for you and it's a perfect opportunity for the high contrast blow out skies, too!
