SIJ Day#12 - No Kites Today

I didn't have more than a couple minutes today, so I planned ahead. The snow is coming down pretty good today. A knew of 2 potential shots about 100 yards apart so on my way to work, I pulled into the parking lot for the marina.

My first victim would be the brightly painted "Gift of Wings" store that mainly sells kites in season. Across the parking lot the tranquil marina just waits for me all the time. Out of season after the boats are all packed away into storage it's always a nice place to practice simple geometric shots.

I like them both - love falling snow scenes

BUT I prefer the marina image - I can see that you have looked at the symmetry and tried to sort it out - it's appealing

I like them both, too - very much.

If you hadn't shown us that marina, I'd be waxing on about your first more easily. The first makes me laugh - and it really is a good contrast seeing that summer fun with the snow blasting down...but I just love the white walkway up the middle in your marina.

See, aren't you glad you didn't throw in the towel?;)

I like the colour gleaming through the snow in the first and the long walkway into murky distance in the second.

I too like the "contrast" in the first one. Snowing on an establishment that's there for much nicer weather. But the second one is waaay different in a good way too.

wow, the second one is super stark, moody, very well done - but the first made me laugh out loud, which means the photo really connected :) Great idea! and good execution too:cool:
