SIJ Day#19 - Here by the Sea and Sand

First off, I have to say, "I HATE the beach". I don't like sand, but worse than that is the sun. I'm fair skinned and I burn easily, so I slather up with sunblock and just sit there and cook. But my wife loves it. And I love the sound of the crashing waves and watching the sea birds. And when there is a nice cool breeze and I can lie back and close my eyes (preferably under an umbrella), it can totally transport and revitalize you.

It's also pretty great for photography. So while it sounds like I'm complaining, I still had a pretty great time. While my SIJ shots from the "Sunshine State" of Florida are nearing their conclusion, you are welcome to follow along on my flickerstream for a bunch more sunshine. My photography can be found here..... . Stop by and say "Hi".
The two seabirds bring this shot out of the ordinary as does the processing. Still 30C here at 22:45 hours.
Lovely shot. I love going for walks on the beach at this time of the year, but in Scotland the temperatures are significantly cooler.
Luke - three quarters of the image is wonderful - a great shot - warm colours

IMHO - do something about the "sun smudge" in the sky - get rid of it in PS or something - as I feel that it just distracts from a great shot

(but maybe it is because of this)
Thanks for the suggestion Bill, I think it's a lens flare. I'll mess around with it and see if I can get rid of it cleanly.
Beautiful intensity of colors and light. That gull and the cormorant (maybe?) on the sign make this one for me, too.

Interestingly, I hadn't even noticed the lens flare until I read Bill's comment. Now, of course, I do see it but I think I was so taken by the picture that it just went right by. Love the layers of color - and of course the two birds.

I'll definitely be over on Flickr but first I have to finish in here!
