SIJ - Day 2: Sterling Tower from Woolsey Rotunda

I mistakenly added this to my personal gallery instead of SIJ; this is my entry for January 2.

Continuing the theme of architecture generally, and further the idea of showing two buildings in one photograph, this is a shot of Sterling Tower from outside the Rotunda of Woolsey Hall. Woolsey Hall is the primary auditorium at Yale University and it seats some 2,695 people, It was built as part of the Yale bicentennial celebration in 1901 anbd was designed by architects Carrère and Hastings, designers of the New York Public Library. Sterling tower, across the street here, is part of the Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona (SSS) Hall complex.

I meant to shoot this in 2:3 and it came out 3:4. I kind of like this format. It gives me quite a bit more perspective on the rotunda. I rejected the 16:9 shot simply because this has more context.
Well done, even though my brain is a bit confused by the light on the church and inside on the pillars.

Sterling Tower sure looks as though it's a cathedral, to me. The warm light seems to be coming down "from on high", in keeping with my cathedral theme. Love the carvings and detail on the ceiling above the columns!

You've got yourself surrounded by photo ops, Seaain.(y)
