SIJ - Day 24
Broadside strokes
Just the single frame so this had to be it I'm afraid. Am I happy with it? Well not completely. But having recently re-read Freeman Patterson's "Photography and the Art of Seeing" I thought I'd try one of his Exercises in Thinking Sideways - so I intentionally broke the three cardinal rules:
"Rule 1: Always hold your camera steady.
Rule 2: Be sure the centre of interest is in sharp focus.
Rule 3: Follow you light meter."
..and this is the result.

However, he also stresses not to simply throw frames away because you don;t like them, but urges the reader to examine the frame and elements within more carefully. So I thought what better way to capitalise on this lesson than put it out and up there.

Hmmm....
There is a feel of brushstrokes to it. Not a typical result, but very pleasing to the eye.

Have to say I like this one. Like the three layers of different colors and then the white bird blob thrown in there to add some drama. Nice capture.

I really like your result here! Is that a flying bird? I love how the compositional elements are all very clearly defined and seperated, but still each one is turned into a Van Gogh-like, impressionist feature...

Guess I am too conservative. Not my cuppa. Whats the white in the middle? Looks like a bunny on the run.

I'm close to loving it. The background and your heavy processing I love. But the white thing (a bird I presume) is just too undefined (for me). Still, I wouldn't hit delete, though. the more I look at it, the more I like it.

Creativity doesn't have to stick to any rules.

This image shows why.

Love it.

Have you seen American Beauty? This reminds me of the boyfriends art video in which a white plastic bag dances in the wind against a simple back ground.

not sure if we are meant to post links?
