SiJ Day#29 - a peek at the weather

Woke up this morning to an quiet that is a little bit eerie living in the city. It could only mean one thing. It was snowing. I peaked through the drapes and then went to make some coffee. I didn't have any shots planned so ripped off a couple safeties.

I was hoping to get some shooting in after work today, but no time......good thing I had that safety shot.
This image really appeals to me. Very unusual composition but I think it works well. The colours have a 1950's feel.

Luke, I'm so glad you kept this in color...the subdued nature of the scene outside...with the barely parted curtains... Such a quiet and beautiful scene, Luke. Your choice of focusing outside and keeping the curtains out of focus was very wise...the color of the curtains in their blurred state emphasizes the silence.

I think this is beautiful and very well seen, Luke.

Luke,
One look out there and yes it's snowing!
I'm reminded of another photograph in this group, from Phoenix i believe.
Each of them through a curtain, each quite nice having warmth and quiet and feeling of indoors.
Good one.

I like the peekaboo effect and the contrast between the b&w outside and the colours inside.

Oh my dear Sir. An absolute stunner!!! Love the framing of this shot, I'm left feeling so guilty looking at this shot....like I'm toasty and outside, well it so aint!!!!

I love this. It has a slightly detached from reality quality that often comes with the first fall of snow. It makes great use of the negative space of the curtains to frame an otherwise mundane view in an intriguing and slightly edgy way. Well seen and executed.
