SIJ - Day04 Start Point radio masts

These two masts rise 450' into the air and the transmitter was opened by the BBC in 1939. The nearest mast is the transmitter, the far mast the reflector. In 1944 their roles were reversed and this became the only transmitter in the UK to broadcast radio services to the troops serving with the Allied Expeditionary Forces in Europe, a service that was started up on June 8th, 1944.
Good "early morning" feel, I like how the sun's rays don't quite light up this side of the hill yet except for some taller pieces of grass. Thanks for the added historical information, giving it some context.

I love the pastel colours in the sky and the tracery of the wires against it.

A fitting tribute, Barrie, to have come upon this view just as the sunlight burst through! Thank goodness for the radio waves both then, and now.

Nice story Barrie. I like that you have given us an appreciation of a form that I usually associate with sullying our landscape. I'm seeing some beauty in its imposing structure
