You are making me think of the V2 again.

Nikon Let's Talk Nikon 1 For A Minute...

I was looking at the Nikon 1, before I made the decision to go micro 4/3. The V3, the latest of the V models cut it's own throat, when they removed the EVF. The add-on EVF looks like it is just asking to be broken. Unlike teens, I cannot use a rear screen camera, to shoot anything moving faster...

Micro 4/3 What are your expectations on Black Friday Discounts for 2023

    I'm interested in a 2nd OM1, so I will be watching.

Nikon Tamron developing new 35-150 Z-mount

I used the predecessor lens (35-150/2.8-4) on a Canon dSLR. Worked really great on an APS-C camera. It was almost the APS-C equivalent to the FF 70-200/2.8. It had the equivalent FL, but the max aperture of f/4 was its weakness for night time sports under lights. Make it f/2-2.8, and it...

    Nikon Updated Z lens roadmap

My mistake, I thought the 40/2 was a DX lens.

    Nikon Updated Z lens roadmap

    Isn't there a 40/2 in the line?

Micro 4/3 What Do You Use MFT For?

Yes, especially when my hands get sweaty. Then holding the zoom ring gets slippery :( I often have to carry a towel on my belt to wipe my hands, when they get sweaty. For me, it is not limited to outdoor games in the sun, it also happens in the gym. On my list of stuff to do, is to get a...

    Nikon Updated Z lens roadmap

I agree with the first half of the sentence. Old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." But the second half depends on what you want/need. If you only/primarily shoot in daylight, yes, the Nikon F-DX lenses are fine. But in DIM light, there are only a couple F-DX lenses that will work. And...

Micro 4/3 What Do You Use MFT For?

I now use m43 for almost everything. The only thing I use my Nikon DX dSLR is for field games (football, soccer, lacrosse). This is simply because it is MUCH easier to turn the zoom ring on the Nikon 70-200/4 lens, than ANY of my Olympus Pro zooms. I can turn the zoom ring with my fingers...

    Nikon Updated Z lens roadmap

    Agree; moderate wide (24), normal (35), short/portrait tele (60) But even F-DX does not have the 24 and 50/60. Only the 35. I use the F-DX 35/1.8 and the F-FX 50/1.8. Thankfully the F-FX 50/1.8 is a small/light lens, not a BIG/HEAVY lens.

Nikon Just announced the DX 24mm f/1.7 in Z Mount

A moderate wide was what the F DX line was missing. I had to settle for the 35/1.8.

    Nikon Updated Z lens roadmap

I wonder if the 70-180 is the Tamron lens for Sony. 135/1.8 . . . drool. But it will probably be a big heavy lens.

    Micro 4/3 Thinking of switching 40-150 F2.8 to 40-150 F4

If you need the "reach" then your lens is the 100-400. One thing to consider, as the the camera to subject distance gets longer, and the FoV gets tighter (longer lens), the more you see the "stuff" in the air. Stuff like: smoke, dust, pollen, moisture, sun reflecting off the particles in the...

    Lens The fast telephoto

Back in the film days . . . The practical effect was as Brian said, a zoom will maintain focus as you zoom, where as a VFL you would have to refocus as you change the FL. This was not really an issue with single-ring zooms (push/pull to zoom, rotate to focus), as your hand could do both at the...

    Micro 4/3 Thinking of switching 40-150 F2.8 to 40-150 F4

Agree, the primary thing that I use the 40-150/2.8 for is sports. Primarily night games where the f/2.8 comes in handy. Once I stop shooting sports, I may replace the 40-150/2.8 lens with the f/4 lens.
