    Bokeh is overrated...

Wow, I clearly hit a nerve. I meant no offense and was trying to play up the "internet" problem with a bit of 'L337' speak. Exactly, and at some point in the past 20 years the out-of-focus quality of a lens went from being just one performance metric to a ponderously over-valued metric. It...

    Bokeh is overrated...

It's certainly over rated, until it is ugly, then 'bokeh' is distracting. The term, and especially the near religious zealotry are certainly products of the internet. Then it was weaponized for marketing to make the 'fu11 framez' superior. But I also think modern lens design has a hand in the...

    Micro 4/3 Thinking of switching 40-150 F2.8 to 40-150 F4

I loved my 40-150/2.8, but I've yet to regret switching to the f/4 version. The 2.8 is big and I often choose to leave it behind, whereas the f/4 feels very svelte in comparison. I never used a TC and only sometime shot indoors so I really don't miss the benefits of the bigger lens. The f/4...

Micro 4/3 Recommendations For A Costa Rica Wildlife Kit

Which puts you at over 800 pics/day if you consider days 1+13 won't have as many photo opportunities. Frankly, that's into camera finger carpal-tunnel territory 😝

Micro 4/3 Recommendations For A Costa Rica Wildlife Kit

I'm unconvinced of the need to backup sd cards when traveling. Maybe transfer them to a medium that's cheaper $/Gb if you shoot a lot, but it also sounds like you are bringing tons of sd storage. Aside from crushing them you'd be hard pressed to lose your data, especially with newly purchased...

    DPReview.com to close

But where will I go to be trolled incessantly about equivalence? Dark days indeed. On a more serious note: This is what is meant by the coming dark age of the internet. 25 years of camera community wiped out. First betrayed by whoever sold it to Amazon, and then carelessly discarded for lack...

Advice Wanted Fujifilm Primes v Olympus Primes [Not Pro lenses]

I've pondered Fuji gear numerous times, but the truth is the image quality difference between m43 and APS-C is at best marginal. I sure wouldn't waste the money switching system between these two brands. If you want better image quality, go with a 35mm sensor.

Micro 4/3 Odd Problem With My OM-1s

It could be a firmware bug, but it could also be bad luck:

It's also an interesting pairing. I enjoy the sunlit new growth juxtaposed against the dingy concrete in the background. Life finds a way.

I find that having a tunnel over a simple conveyor belt makes it feel 'sci-fi' 🤖 Funny how that works.
