From memory I think I was about 14 years old when I first got into photography. My brother in law Brian, his brother Trevor & myself all used to go out here and there taking photos. We could only afford second hand gear in those days but it was fun buying and selling to fulfill our latest photographic desire.

At school I chose photography for my English oral exam, taking all my gear and sample pictures into my exam to explain to the teacher why I loved photography so much. It must have worked well because a few days after I was summoned to the headmasters office where I was asked if I would take pictures of the upcoming school play. This I duly did and it was great fun snapping all the actors & actresses getting ready & peforming too. Of course in those days there was no digital cameras it was rolls of film which had to be sent away to be processed. In my case it involved a trip to town armed with some hard cash given to me by the headmaster. I even got to miss some lessons to display all the pictures on a notice board for all to see. Lots of people ordered copies & I made some money :)

Away from school my photography included such things as a trip to Gerry Cottles Circus for TV's "Summertime Special" where we had the chance to snap the likes of Boney M, The Nolans & Val Doonican along with lots of rather attractive models hoping to win the beauty competition.

When I was about 25 I got into wedding photography. It was quite stressful but rewarding capturing the happy couple's big day, something that was a one off occasion so I had to get it right! It was stressful tho having to wait 2 weeks for the pictures to come back from the lab before knowing if they had come out ok. Wedding photographers of today dont have that problem with their digital cameras & can view their results there and then.

I did weddings for about 2 years before giving photography up for what turned out to be nearly 25 years! My passion returned in 2010 & I have had great fun learning about all the new technology that has developed during my time out. How long will my passion last this time I wonder .............................
