For me, the OIS and the use of the teleconverters is enough justification. I don't do much 1:1 either, but being able to be further away and be stabilised is great!
I can be almost three times the distance away from butterflies etc., compared to the 60.
I'm in the same boat, learning and enjoying the 16-55 after much resistance. I kept the 16mm 1.4, it is unique. And when I got the 50-140 I kept the 90mm, it's also special.
The 50-140 is just an amazing lens. I prefer the longer view, so I have it on my camera more than any other lens. The stabilisation is superb!
BTW I have now switched from the X-Pro2 to the X-T2 and I prefer it because I use the power grip, which balances the camera nicely with the 50-140.
