    Challenge! Day to Day 279

On March 6, 1475, Michelangelo Buonarotti, arguably one of the gratest sculptors of all time, was born. Here's Simon Whistler for you again: Most of you will have seen his great and better known work (even those who haven't seen the sculptures know about "The Final Judgement" in the Sistine...

    Show: Random Picture Thread!!!

This just happened: A snack for a photographer who also tries to play the ukulele and likes to track his walks ... The only thing that's kind of missing from that picture is the espresso ... Would also fit the "Contextual Bokeh" thread ... M.

    Challenge! Day to Day 278

Economical shot: The same corner today's shot for the Small Sensor Symposium came from - though this caught my eye first (one of those things I had overlooked for years), and I used the E-M5 III with 12-45mm f/4 for it, which is my small all-weather rig - the weather was marginal today at best...

Challenge! March Symposium: The Small Sensor Look.

Fully agree - I love as many aspects of the camera as I find really irritating. The "self-aware" mode dial is another annoying "feature", the lack of tactile dials is a constant nag. I too have missed or bodged shots because the mode dial had "wandered" or I had closed the aperture completely...

Challenge! March Symposium: The Small Sensor Look.

This finally did it - I just swapped out the P50 to make room for the V1 with its congenial partner, the 18.5mm f/1.8. Thanks for nudging me over the threshold, Sue! M.

    Greetings from Norway.

Welcome on board, Jens! Looking forward to your contributions and images - as Serhan said, your country offers wonderful vistas I'm looking very much forward to (as well as visiting once times have changed ...). M.

    Challenge! Day to Day 277

I really wasn't sure it wasn't some kind of debris after all - it's definitely showing signs of heavy use. But now it makes sense - thanks for clearing that up (assessment corrected, of course ;)). M.

    Challenge! Day to Day 278

This day marks the 75th anniversary of Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech; a take on the times' political developments so immensely popular he went on to repeat it over and over for several years to come (he gave another version of it in Zurich in 1947)...

    Show Clouds Sunrise/Sunset

The often disregarded Voigtländer Ultron 28mm f/2, at f/5.6. No APO, no ASPH., just nice glass ... To be honest, my Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 (non-ASPH.) may be contrastier and appear sharper, but I'm really pleased by the rendering of the Ultron in most cases ... smooth, but certainly not mushy or...

Challenge! Post an image of yours related to the one above it!

(untitled) on Flickr EDIT: As an explanation: A board game and book swap point in one of the less affluent quarters of Berlin (of which there are many!). It's actually gangland - unwise to venture into at night. As usual in Berlin, it's also a place where just about every kind and class of...

    Challenge! Day to Day 276

You know, now that you mention it, the old "chlapf"* is actually making a kissy face ;) M. *Swiss German, mockingly/fondly depreciative of any car - but especially for old and derelict ones.

    Leica New Voigtländer 35mm lenses

The new APO Summicron will launch at a price of $8200. Go figure ... However, as with the 50mm APO, it's really tiny compared to the Voigtländers. Do I care? Not at that difference in price - and definitely not as far as performance is concerned: The Voigtländer APO-Lanthars are all spectacular...

    Challenge! Day to Day 277

March 4 is Jan Garbarek's birthday, so here's a little something ... I've heard him in Lucerne twice in very different settings - the second time had a similar vibe to this ... M.
