    Corel Aftershot 3

I've used AfterShot Pro for some photos. I think highlight recovery is one of its strengths. It hasn't had much development in recent years but it's a decent low-cost tool.

Film Ilford launches it's new Website

Thanks, Kenneth. I don't need the mobile-friendly formatting, but they've added some helpful articles to the site. It's encouraging to see Ilford still growing its film business, not constantly pruning back (cough, Fuji, cough).

Sony 1st post: ebay buyer wants shutter count

I just tried uploading an RX100 image to that site, and it couldn't find the shutter count. :(

Film Film: B-Sides (doco about 20x24 Polaroid portrait photog Elsa Dorfman)

I hope that will be on Netflix soon! I've heard of Elsa Dorfman because she took the cover photo for the most enjoyable computer book I ever read, Philip & Alex's Guide to Web Publishing, by Philip Greenspun. Greenspun is a good photographer himself, with many examples in his book, and he...

Film ISO: A decent MF setup

The Mamiya 645E is a good entry point to Mamiya's 645 system because it is less expensive than other bodies in the family. It has a metering prism that is not interchangeable, and its construction is more modern/plastic than its predecessors, but it uses the same lenses as other 645 bodies. I...

    Film Mamiya C330

My C220 came with 80mm and 65mm lenses. They'll be enough to get me started, but I'm keeping my eye out for longer twin lenses. Your 105mm gets good results.

    Film Mamiya C330

Great shots! They make me more excited about trying the C220 I just got. Can you tell me more about where you got the film scanned (and, I assume, processed)? I don't know what The Lab is.

Stroll Vixen at Emory, on LX7

Visiting Emory University in Atlanta, while my wife helped pack our daughter's winter clothes for a partial wardrobe removal, I walked our dog Vixen around campus with my new-to-me LX7. Adjustments made with DxO Optics Pro 11.

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

I noticed that they've received almost 10 times their original funding target! That amount of interest in film processing is very encouraging.

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Thanks for the link to the Lab-Box. I hadn't heard of it, but coincidentally while I was researching for my own plunge into b&w processing, I found this article about the history of film-developing tanks, and evidently the "daylight loading" tank was on the market 80 years ago, and various...

    Software help for editing newbie!

Start with the free RAW-editing software that your camera manufacturer provides, either on a CD that came with camera or as a download from the camera's support website. That software will let you crop images and adjust exposure and white balance, which is 80% of what I do with RAW files. After...

HP 1 MP photo from 1998

That's basically a nice image, well composed, and it makes a fine souvenir. I understand why people then said digital couldn't replace film, but digital was already good enough for many purposes, cheap to use, and easy to share on the Internet. I wonder whether smartphone cameras have as much...
