    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

Steve, again, great shot of the bridge! All kidding aside, it's fantastic. I'm down in the bay pretty often and used to just "photowalk" around the area to take pictures of all the interesting people. I once ducked down an alley and found myself in the middle of the Urban Iditarod rally point. I...

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

Hahah! What sort of sorcery is this "tripod" you speak of? (I just about spit coffee on my keyboard) Years ago I heard a quote from Ansel Adams about tripods, stating that there were two kinds of tripods; heavy and useful, and light and useless. Of course he was speaking from the perspective of...

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

Steven- Ya, I wouldn't consider the 16-55 2.8 then unless you run into a lot of low light situations. I'm going to borrow a 55-140 next weekend and I can't wait. Everyone echos your sentiments, so I'm chomping at the bit to use it.

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

KillRamsey- Well, it depends. If I had it to do over again, would I buy it? Yep. But it meets my needs quite well. I shoot portraits. I live in 2.8 - 5.6. The 18-55 is really a great little lens that has a bit of a learning curve. It has some real "sweet spots" at different focal lengths and...

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

I thought I'd circle back and let you guys know I received the replacement 16-55 2.8 and it is much better! I setup a "lens testing area" and ran the 16-55 2.8, the 18-55 2.8-4, the 56 1.2, and the 27 2.8 through my setup and found some very interesting data. As expected, the 56 1.2 really blew...

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

I did some comparisons with the first one I tried out and the images from this one and it definitely has issues. Quite a bit softer and horrific chromatic aberration. Something is out of alignment perhaps? Back it goes....

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

I'll try to get some more technical images taken to share with you guys. I'll get some newspaper hung up and see if I can try to quantify what I'm seeing. I didn't expect the zoom to be the same quality as the 56, but I did expect it to be significantly better than my 18-55. Also just pinging...

    Fuji 56 1.2 vs 16-55 2.8 - Send It Back?

I've been using the 56 1.2 for a while and think it's the best Fuji lens to day when it comes to raw image quality. It's just amazing, even at wider apertures. I recently picked up the 16-55 2.8 after hearing about all of the great reviews about it's image quality and frankly, I'm not...

    Fuji XT-1 with 18-55 or 16-55

Just my 2 cents here... I pretty much own all of the lenses at the point and started with the 18-55 "kit" lens. I intended to sell it once I got the 16-55 but it has it's place and I can't let it go. I agree, it doesn't get the credit it deserves and the OIS does work fairly well. The 16-55 is...

Fuji Classic Chrome for the X-E2

I'm not sure if this helps you, but check this post out about sharpening with the X-Trans in Lightroom. Presets built and available there too. Sharpening and FUJIFILM’s X-Trans Sensor (this is my site, so mods please remove if you wish)

Fuji Classic Chrome for the X-E2

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately I don't have a current version of Photoshop and use Lightroom 5.7. I guess I should have asked if supported in an upcoming LR update rather than a new version (like 6.0) Appreciate the help!! BTW, I own several of your (fantastic) books and recommend...

Fuji Classic Chrome for the X-E2

I've been playing around wiht the Classic Chrome film simulation and I really like it so far. The trouble I'm having is that for some reason Adobe hasn't enabled it in LR5 yet for the X-E2. It's there for the X-T1 so I guess it just keys off of the EXIF data and enables accordingly. Has anyone...

    Fuji Feedback On Photo Article

Thanks for the feedback guys! I agree, it's pretty dang long and not for the faint of heart. My typical format is very short and to the point about a specific lighting setup so there is plenty of that for the short attention span'd readers. I'll have to see where I can break it up as suggested...

    Fuji Feedback On Photo Article

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, but thought I'd start here. Mods, feel free to move/remove as necessary. With my X-E2 and new 56mm 1.2 in hand, I wrote an article on the Photographer's Workflow where I try to take new shooters through the process of of a "typical" photo session, as...

My First Thoughts On The Yongnuo YN560

Hey guys, I just finished up a post on the new YN560 speedlights that I recently picked up. Google'ing around I found bits and pieces of information about them, but none had the info (like if they work alright with my X-E2) I was looking for, hence my review. I hope it helps you out if you...
