That's a great choice Amin. It's lasted as my favorite camera for 6 months now which must be a record for me. Apart from the quality of file (the following is a 25% crop) it is a very simple design in use with one touch to any setting needed. I look forward to seeing some photos.

This is a crop from BW film shot using Ricoh 500 GX rangefinder - so must be a double Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss win with use of old gear + the image. Off course the busker may also have been playing a Rolling Stones tune in which its a triple win

OK - posting this just to give an idea of the amount of highlight recovery available with the GR - first one exported from LR with no work, second one recovered. Enormous amount of headroom to recover what looks like blown highlights.
Will see if I have anything decent worth posting later...
Thank you for this. I traded in quite a lot of old camera equipment to get the GR and having the correct profile makes a noticeable difference to LR 4.4
Kind regards,

I would agree - it is a specialist camera which can be used for particular types of work. But is it worthwhile for the image quality, outstanding lens and, a point that is often ignored, a very simple yet outstanding design that makes it easy to use within its limitations.
With preparation...
Hey - please - all meant as fun. The more rambling the better. I am really enjoying the thread and thought to add my own bits to it - especially as I am listening to Jethro as I type. My question has long been answered by all you great people here. Should have used smiley face in previous...
So I started with what I seemed a simple question and what do we end up with - comparisons with cars (ancient Volvo's no less) and The Commodores followed by various interpretations of ugliness. All I can say is my, now very appropriate theme tune is ---- Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (and I...
Ray,
It's only recording a single raw file - so it must be the way the file is interpreted both in-camera and through SPP. Prior to Firmware 1.04 it was only possible to "see" B+W on camera lcd using jpeg setting. From 1.04 it's possible to set camera to see B+W in RAW. I have no idea on the...
Apologies for jumping in - but to clarify, with firmware 1.04 B+W is available in RAW although not the Sepia setting. If shooting in RAW B+W setting then in SPP the photo opens under the B+W tab although switching to color tab switches to color.
Kind regards,
Simon
Thank you all for comments (and welcome messages) and wonderful pictures. Decision made - I look forward to adding some K-01 shots in due course
