Golden B

Little B looking sleepy in the early morning sunlight. He stole grapes today and is now back at the vets for an overnight stay having been made sick, (grapes are toxic to dogs). All being well, he'll be home tomorrow but I can't help worrying about him. He must be wondering why he's been abandoned there :( I think Little B must be rivalling Steve's dogs for veterinary bill costs!

I hope Little B gets well quickly. (He is one of my favorite internet pooches.) I guess I'll stop providing Cook with her daily glass of wine.

I find it so odd that dogs and humans, (fellow mammals with similar digestive systems), cannot handle all the same foods. I have a physician friend who loves The Cook, we had a number of discussions on this. He agrees also that it is odd. I'm sure that there are some simple explanations, but he (physician) and I (marine biologist) don't have that particular knowledge. So we discuss.

The Cook recently had ACL surgery, kept her out of the 2012 season. The cost of that could have been used to opened up a µ4/3 store (well almost).

The Cook on her first day home from surgery.

Oh, gosh - I hope Little B and The Cook will both be right as rain, if they aren't already.

It's terrible when our friends get sick and they're always so stoic.

Beautiful photos, by the way, you all.

She's lovely with that woolly terrier fur that's so appealing. I didn't know that it was possible to to ACL surgery on dogs! I wouldn't stop with her daily tipple though, she's probably become hardened to it's effects by now :)

The surgery was in June, with a three month recovery period. Crated in the beginning with exercise periods increasing over time. She's fully recovered and running very close or equal to before. Thanks for the tip on not stopping wine with her evening meal. She's enjoying her reds.

Just been browsing the pentax forum and came across some of your dogs shot with
Your GXR. I've got to say, the GXR shots look sharper and cleaner .
What do you think ?

I really liked the GXR, but it caused me a lot of problems with with wide apertures. I was constantly having to fiddle around with ND filters. I shoot at F2.8 a lot when I take pictures of my dogs and I'm usually outdoors in the daytime. I had to make a tough choice when I got the X Pro which I absolutely love. I'm not going to say one is sharper than the other. I just like what the X Pro files look like. But I'm a huge William Eggleston fan so I like the colors on the X Pro. I wish I could get a second X Pro body so I wouldn't have to change lenses. Because I'm outdoors so much I'm having some dust on the sensor problems. That's definitely one in the plus column for the GXR. :) Honestly if I could have afforded to keep it I would have. I'm down to three cameras now and once Xmas is over I'm hoping it's two. I do think the GXR is one of the best cameras for B/W conversions. Not sure why, but that's just my opinion, but it's also what I like in the B/W conversion. In the end I think a lot of the camera comparing is kind of subjective. They are all really good now. You just have to figure out what you want the camera to do and get the one that checks off the most boxes. The Fuji is an unusual camera. You kind of have to like the way the files look. It's perfect for me. I don't find the focus that slow, I never used any type of stabilization on any DLSR I've ever owned (I've never even cut the VR on my Nikon lenses), I like the fact that I can shoot at ISO 1600 no problem (which sort of solves the stabilization issue), and I find the lenses have really nice bokeh. So it's the first camera I've ever owned I have no complaints about. I think the D700 is an incredible camera but it's kind of big.

Sunday AM. Stanley is almost 12 years old now but he can still make 3-4 hours on the hiking trails. That said when we stop he takes a nap. I join him too sometimes and let Hugo/Ruby play. I'll be 52 this week and I feel about 72 some days........

Saw the later photo with the 60 so I'm glad to see he's up and about. Don't forget I had Stanley too... He was actually worse than Ruby. One time when I took him to the Emergency Vet, when I walked in the door, the nurse just looked at me and said with an exasperated tone of voice: "What has Stanley done this time?!"
