That's superb Penfan & I've just seen your gallery image of the Flower & Vase DSCF3004-Edit which is outstanding

A tutorial would be very welcome

Thanks, ReD, nothing really special. On LR 4.4, I just sharpen to taste and adjust shadow and highlight levels, and sometimes, exposure and contrast, until I like the look of the image. For Black and White, i take the extra step of additional processing with Silver Efex Pro 2 from LR4.4, and choose one of the many pre-sets available. Again, I tweak shadow, highlight and brightness controls until I have the final look I like. For most of my BW, i then finish by choosing a BW film emulation setting, and tweak the grain levels as needed. Hope that helps, it's all very subjective to my taste, no specific formula.

OK this is perhaps death by PP, but I recently did try a few bracketed exposures in Paris, including these rather famous gargoyles at Notre Dame. So this was a basic default HDR on the bracketed shots to get even exposure (the gargoyles were in too deep a shadow for a single exposure to be effective), followed by Silver Efex processing to try to get a slightly noir-style image and to enhance the selective focus. Still very new at the monochrome processing; not as easy as it seems!
