Yes, my dog, Peggy, did not know the difference between being scolded and being praised when we first got her. She was afraid of everything and everybody, except me; she seemed to know right away that she was safe with me and rode home in the front of the truck with her head in my lap. It's wonderful to see them come round and learn that affection is what people want to give them, to learn how to accept it, like it, and eventually expect it. I love Newfies! The ones I've known have all been wonderful animals. And your girl is beautiful.

She is. We rescued her. The original owners were not ideal--she was taken back 25% underweight (she is 100lbs now) and was confined to her crate for 8-hour a day (guess where she learned to pee). She really did not understand affection, but greatly wanted it. She would get really excited and would bite--we think when the owners played with her, they could not control her and wore gloves for protection--easier than training her--and she still bites if you put on gloves. But she is making great progress. She still gets excited, but it is much better tempered. She is finding out that "affection" in not rough play nor something she only gets at certain hours. She is a lovely girl.

Penfan these are all really nice pics, well seen too. I really like the B & W treatment you've used . I question whether this lens would be very useful here in the UK when it's so grey here most of the time!
